blessing #8: literacy

illiteracy (particularly for females) isn’t nearly as much of an issue in the countries i grew up in (the u.s and canada) as it is in other countries in the world (like, for example, afghanistan or ethiopia), but it is nevertheless a blessing. and most certainly a privilege. i’ve been in love with reading for as far back as my childhood memories will take me, and have been captivated by the art of writing ever since stringing together my first simple sentence. i can’t imagine my life without access to a means of processing, understanding, engaging and communicating with the world that is so essentially human. and so integral to our modern world.

special thanks go out to mr. scarry for getting me started on my way:
