Patrick Hoelck

found a crumpled napkin with a bunch of names scrawled on it on my desk tonight and decided to check a few of them out. turns out they’re all artists that i’d seen/heard of somewhere and decided needed further investigation. fashion/celebrity photographer Patrick Hoelck was one of them. it didn’t take me long to recognize a long list of shots from his portfolio; they happen to be some of my favorite famous folk portraits from recent years. i love the unabridged sexuality in Hoelck’s work, and the moody, almost sinister tone he sets with his use of lighting. reminds me of of Tom Ford’s deliciously risque ads for Gucci circa the late 90’s.
