working what you got

i’m just as easily seduced by a space composed of fancy new things as the next girl. but nothing captures my design imagination more than the creative use of repurposed, salvaged, and simple materials. which is why every time i go in to get my hair done at the beauty school where my friend is perfecting her craft, i find myself endlessly charmed by the functionality and funk of its particular feng shui. highlights include guest seats built from plywood and milk crates, hair stations composed of old lockers and mirrors mounted on wooden doors, and spray painted aluminum trash cans for housing clean and dirty towels.
