Anna-Wili Highfield

i found myself drawn to the stripped down, muscular grace of Anna-Wili Highfield’s paper sculpture race horse while wandering online this morning. her technique of sculpting and then sewing together archival cotton paper fascinates me, if not for the hauntingly beautiful look it engenders, then for the simple fact that i do not possess the patience or fine motor skills to shape something this captivating out of play-doh let alone paper. a browse through her elegantly understated online portfolio revealed some more whimsical paper and copper wire creations as well.
