dark night of the soul

this fine friday morning i humbly beseech the time management gods to get the heck out of my way so i can go to Amoeba and finally get my hands on Dark Night of the Soul, the newest synergistic musical endeavor from Danger Mouse and (this time around) the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse. with a name like that and guest performances by the likes of James Mercer, Julian Casablancas, Iggy Pop, Frank Black and the Flaming Lips, to name a few, the album promises to be a melodious montage of melancholia.

and while we’re on the topic of what i want, if anyone happens to spot a copy of David Lynch’s photographic accompaniment to the album for less than $150, please let me know.

in the meantime, i’ll settle for sitting back with a cup of tea, grandma’s quilt and this awesomely lo-fi video for James Mercer’s contribution to the album, “Insane Lullaby”:
