the black flat

you wouldn’t think a basic black flat would be so hard to find. but after months of searching (and many pre-work mornings spent whining over their glaring absence in my wardrobe), i’ve come to realize that a good black flat can be just as elusive as the perfect pair of jeans. some are too pointy, other too clunky. some squeeze the toes while other pinch the heel. with fall upon us and the likelihood of legging-friendly days on the rise, i sat down at lunch today determined to find my next friendly black flat online. no love at first sightings yet, but here’s a few styles that might put a little pep in my step:

the problem is i was spoiled by my first pair, which was awesome. subsequently, i wore holes straight though them. which didn’t work so well in rainy vancouver.
